Chag Lowry filmmaker The Bartow Project

Chag Lowry is of Yurok, Maidu, and Achumawi Native ancestry from Northern California.  He is the author of the graphic novel Soldiers Unknown from Great Oak Press, the comic story My Sisters from Original Voices, and the books The Original Patriots: Northern California Indian Veterans of World War Two and The Original Patriots: California Indian Veterans of the Korean War from Original Voices.  He is the co-producer and director of multiple PBS documentaries about California Indigenous people and cultures.  He co-produced and co-directed the PBS documentary titled The Original Patriots: Northern California Indian Veterans of World War Two that features Native veterans sharing their stories.  Chag created the Original Voices imprint to produce comic stories based on the Indigenous perspective, with the goal of partnering with producers to create films based on his work.     

Chag is partnering with graphic artist Weshoyot Alvitre (Tongva) and film editor Melvin Cannon (Kumeyaay) to create “Coming Home” -working title- about the impact of Rick’s military service in Vietnam on his life and art.
